Jacob Domanic White 02/17/09-02/03/14 Jacob Domanic White was granted his angel wings on February 3, 2014. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving and caring family that he managed to touch immensely throughout his short, yet very memorable life. Jake’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were fortunate enough to have been involved in his life, understood that the overall joy throughout his existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his voice and thoughts could always be heard. Although Jake’s illness made him appear frail, he possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. His courage and relentless spirit led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He would spend hours rocking in his favorite chair while cuddling close to those who loved him so much. He enjoyed bath time and listening to country music . With Jake’s passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his loving smile, he will forever remain in our hearts. Through his many challenges and triumphs throughout his little life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents. Jake leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life. Our undying gratitude extends to his many wonderful nurses and doctors from the neonatal and pediatric neurology departments at Yale New Haven Hospital, who cared for Jake over the years. There is a special place in our hearts for Jake’s neurologist “Dr. Susan Levy” because of her continual dedication Jake was able to survive some of his toughest medical challenges. Though he only spent a short time in school, Jake was well cared for and loved by the wonderful people at Thomas W. Mahan School in Norwich, CT. In Jake’s last days at home he was cared for by the supportive members of Vitas Hospice Care of Glastonbury, CT. Jake is survived by his loving parents, Jeremy White and Samantha Sholes of Norwich; paternal grandparents David White and Jodi Varney; maternal grandfather Donald Sholes; Uncle Brandon and Stephanie Krupinski and cousin Lillianna; Aunt Brieanna White and cousin Kaden; Aunt Rachel Sholes; Uncle Joshua Sholes; Caregiver Margaret Whyte.
